Electric Nights
This project is a group project made up of 4 different audio reactive visuals. The inspiration derived from music and club scenes. The piece imagined projected visuals as interior design of the night club space that moves with the music. The piece I created was inspired by lava lamps, made with a large circle that changed from yellow to orange and a horizontal line that changed from magenta to purple. This was the center of my visual. Using the bloom effect that creates a glow effect, I implemented code to change the intensity of the glow. Other characteristics changed based on the audio such as color (of the circle and horizontal line), line width, and vertical movement of the circle. These visual characteristics changed based on rhythm, snare, kick, and low, mid, and high frequencies.
Black Surfers
This project is a critical analysis essay that focuses on one image. The image in focus is a photo titled “Black Surfers" by Fede Kortez. The essay explains the importance of photography as a medium and how it has the potential to transform preexisting societal understandings of culture. Photography is a form of evidence. The realism photography in this case offers a new perspective. This image of Black surfers captures a rare reality. The under representation and underparticipation of surfing amongst Black communities is put into perspective with this image. This paper discusses the historical context of Black communities in aquatic spaces across the Diaspora, the importance of photography in changing this narrative and reality, an analysis of Fede Kortez’s editorial photo, “Black Surfers.”
Autumn Night in London
This photo was taken on a rainy night in London. The street light has a halo hue around it. The rain is only visable around the halo light. The street light also highlights the orange, green, and yellow colors of leaves on the tree branch. This image portays the darkness of the night, the brightness of the city street light, and changing seasons of London.
